The Client
Florida Autism Center (FAC) was founded in 2005 by Chryssy Moor, and serves the autism community with center-based ABA therapy throughout the state of Florida. They have several Ph.D. level employees and consultants on staff in addition to 67 BCBA’s and 15 BCaBA’s. They were recently acquired by Blue Sprig Autism, one of the premier providers in ABA therapy in the United States. Collectively, they have nearly 200 locations and an estimated 2,700 employees.

The Challenge
As a growing healthcare organization, Florida Autism Center needed a technological infrastructure that would support their rapid growth, establish consistency throughout the agency and ensure that the organization was HIPAA compliant.
Over the 5 years that Florida Autism had been a client of Next Horizon’s, they had grown precipitously, causing us to add on services and make adjustments to our IT strategy. However, the biggest challenge came when Blue Sprig acquired Florida Autism. Blue Sprig was using a physical IT Infrastructure. They would need to be moved toward an infrastructureless environment in order for smooth operations and communication amongst their combined 200 locations.
The Solution
Next Horizon helped Florida Autism Center build capacity with IT managed services and cloud computing. We provide help-desk support, computer inventory and staff training, and help maintain critical security compliance. However, as Blue Sprig came on board, they needed to be fully converted to a cloud-based infrastructure.
We started with an Office 365 tenant to tenant migration which was a large undertaking considering their 2,700 employees a 189 locations. To increase data security and integrity across all devices, we deployed a desktop management system via Microsoft Intune. For easy access and usability of files, we instituted a file structure supported through SharePoint online.

The Results
Systematically, we are taking Blue Sprig’s physical servers and operations and convert them to the cloud for greater flexibility and efficiency. While we are not done with the conversion, our team is continuing to work with all stakeholders to bring Blue Sprig and Florida Autism into 2021 with an IT infrastructure that can sustain and facilitate growth while also enhancing HIPAA compliance. By working with Next Horizon, Blue Sprig and Florida Autism have reduced their IT costs, significantly reduced downtime and improved data security.
